Welcome to the official information site for the Enid Hotel Occupancy Tax Initiative.

Our mission is to provide clear, factual information about the proposed increase to Enid's Hotel Occupancy Tax so every voter can make an informed decision.

What is being proposed?

If approved by voters, the proposal would increase the Hotel Occupancy Tax from 8% to 12%, effective October 1. This tax applies only to hotels and motels in Enid and does not apply to private, owner-occupied short-term rentals listed through platforms such as Airbnb or Vrbo.

Why is this being proposed?

The proposed increase is projected to generate more than $700,000 in additional annual revenue. Use of Hotel Occupancy Tax revenue is restricted by law to eligible tourism-related purposes, including projects and initiatives that attract visitors and strengthen our community.

The revised ordinance also provides for a 60/40 revenue split, allowing both the City of Enid and Garfield County to benefit from the additional revenue.

These investments can help support:

  • Parks and walking trails

  • Sports and recreation facilities

  • Community events and festivals

  • Family-friendly attractions

  • Tourism promotion

  • Entertainment opportunities

  • Other eligible tourism-related initiatives

When visitors stay overnight in Enid hotels, they support local restaurants, retailers, attractions, hotels, and other businesses. Those visitor dollars can also help fund improvements that residents enjoy every day.
